Semi-common jargon used to refer to those Kindred who immigrated to the city in the late 1800s and early 1900s who made haven in, near, or below the Union Stockyards and used them as a source of sustinance (either the livestock directly or the workers in some cases). Yardies were known as generally dirty, uneducated, and quick to anger.
After being run out of the city in the early 1970s, Most of the yardies claimed Joliet as their own, setting themselves up as a "true carthian domain".
The term may also be used in a deroggatory manner to suggest another kindred is stupid or impetuous.
