To be of the Unaligned is to exist in a precarious position in the Kindred world. Owing no alleigence to a Covenant may suggest to others one is a mercenary or rogue whose word is worth less than the air it moves. However, the knowledge that one is slave to no other is a tempting situation.

Recent Nights

While not recognized in the same sense the proper Covenants are amongst the Regents, the Unaligned do not necessarily occupy the position of unwashed in Chicago. (That's Held by the Carthians.) Jobe Webster in particular represents perhaps the pinnacle of the Unaligned movement in Chicago- known for wealth and clout (indeed serving as Priscus of the Ventrue) while beholden to no other. Kevin Axel Mason, Kramp, and Short Tom Anderson also serve in this model as those who are known and, to some extent, respected amongst the socialites and political circles of Chicago.
