Of the Gangrel Clan
Dr. Paul Harvest. This is a man whose motivation has little outward clarity. He is a composed man who will kneel on the floor if he does not have a chair handy. He’s just as likely to hop over a couch as he is to walk around it. Before gatherings of Kindred became commonplace, he spent much of his time attending to his research. He would test to see if a kindred's blood type in mortal life had any bearing on their preferred tastes in immortal life or the affects of injecting blood into a kindred’s body instead of drinking the vitae. Finding his research distracted by the rise in kindred social activity he welcomed the new possibilities this opens up.
Within kindred circles, he initially made himself appear to be mad, yet harmless. He claimed to see green-eyed albino crocodiles in the sewers of Chicago. He also claimed to be researching the appearance of wild infant transsexual dire pig. Of course he was really looking into a botched science experience with giving pigs growth hormones. He just said the former so others would see him as a non-threat and thus leave him alone.
Mortal life
His mortal life remains a secret but he recently revealed publicly that Paul Harvest might in fact not be his mortal name. He has also revealed he worked as a veterinarian. He also claims to be a mad scientist. He references pop culture often hinting that he is young, but he recognized the Prince when Farragut returned so he cannot be too young.
Order of the Dragons
Inside the Order, he's a man known for loyalty and dedication to the cause. He became involved in the order after almost a decade of vampirism. His sire, who he describes as an old cat lady, insisted that he find a different covenant than hers to join. He actually met Regent Dr. Anton East by accident at a public lecture at the University of Chicago, but that is how he became involved with the Order.
His studies of the Coils involve two things. First his knowledge of Biological Chemistry gives him a scientific understanding of the blood, while others prefer a mystical one. Second, he is also a trained martial artist. From this his self-control builds and leads to his mastering of his own beast. He likes to fast for days feeding when he has to and not when he is hungry.
Clan Gangrel
In the past two years, he became less involved with the Order of the Dragon and more involved with his clan’s motivations and goals. His social standing grew in the city and he found himself respected by the clan. Respect came as he denounced pretenders claiming to speak for the clan as its leaders. Oddly his insistence that Gangrel lack a leader helped him become one of the leaders of the clan. He has been co-Priscus with Alex Crane and Dragon John but his efforts to create Gangrel territory has pushed him to be the sole claimant of the title.
Oddly Harvest first efforts into becoming more involved with his clan’s motivation and goals was actually creating the clan’s motivation and goals. First he began gathering them together for social outings, a core group still meets regularly for midnight games of Ultimate Frisbee or Hide ‘n’ Seek. Both games are made more interesting when animals, turning into animals, and bonding with the trees and earth are involved.
As friendships and bonds of family asserted themselves, Harvest suggested the idea of Gangrel territory in Chicago. Of course all territory in the city proper had been claimed, so they collectively turned their eyes outward and went for the Cook County Forest Preserve. In March 2007, Harvest formally claimed the Territory for Gangrel and the City of Chicago.
On Being Priscus
Perhaps the best reason Harvest is Priscus is that he does not view it as anything other than a title of honor, a point that has frustrated other clan-mates and Priscus alike. Harvest leads by example and suggestion. He initially tried to make the Priscus Council into a check and balance on the Regent Council. He later changed his mind and stopped pursuing that role when he realized others wanted power to rule over the Regents, and the Prince. He sabotaged their efforts and went his own way.
