Clan Mekhet
Kindred are creatures of the night, of darkness. Of no Clan is this more true then the Mekhet. Creatures of fineness, recognized for their wisdom, the Shadows move through Kindred Society leaving only being seen or heard when they wish to.
Each member of the Clan interprets darkness in their own way, and the Clan is made up of a diverse collection of poets and assassins, thieves and Princes.
They are known for having a certain amount of grace in whatever they do, but what they do tends to be very diverse.
One finds Mekhet scouting the streets for the
Carthian Movement, protecting the secrets of the
Lancaea Sanctum, serving as oracles for the
Circle of the Crone, protecting the elders of the
Invictus, or studying among the
Ordo Dracul.
Amongst such a diverse group, one might imagine that there is little central leadership.
And yet, Shadows seem to have a way to whisper to each other, to find each other.
And whatever path into darkness a Mekhet takes, they have a reputation for being able to find out just about anything. The Mekhet, it is said, know all of your secrets. It is, perhaps best, that they are also known for a certain level of discretion.
In Chicago, the Mekhet have a particularly strong and rich tradition. Arthur Farragut was Mekhet, and he ruled the city in a way one might expect from a Shadow. And while Farragut was the image of a scholar statesman, his opposite in number was another figure who long shaped the city: Stagger Lee.
The legacy of Farragut and Lee can still be seen in Chicago, even if neither man are. There is a rich collection of Mekhet in the city, some holding official positions, some serving as spiritual guides, others serving far more darker, far more unofficial, roles.
And yes. They do know all your secrets.
