While there were certainly Kindred in Joliet prior to 1971, it is hard to note any figures or events of interest in that city from before that year, at least in the minds of the Kindred of Chicago. Certainly the city was the target of more than a few unscrupulous characters searching for a tiny bit of land to call their own without a Regent breathing down their neck, but the victor of that struggle has likely seen final death by now.

In 1971, the Unaligned who had made their homes in the Union Stockyards for decades were forced out by Princely Decree. While a small number found other homes in the city (including the fabled "Chicago Slashers" rumored to still live in the run-off tunnles beneath the stockyards) and many simply scattered to cities far and wide, a number of these Unaligned moved to Gary and Joliet and the towns directly south of there. Alligned together out of frustration and hatred for Prince Faragut, James Milligan, and Diggs Foulworth- these Kindred formed an Ad Hoc community just outside the reasoned borders of the Regents.

While little is known about the current political climate of Joliet, it is understood that the "Yardies" have taken to calling themselves "true Carthians", in opposition to the the corruption and graft they feel defines James Milligan. Most presume the city to be run by a certain apathetic mob rule, but quite rumors suggest that a harsh brand of totalitarianism has set in amongst the older Kindred. Visitors from the city were, at least prior to 2005, unheard of.

It is believed that Ursos Arctos has recently made some contact with the Joliet Kindred, trying to welcome them back into the city as addendum to the Prince's disappearance and Milligan's regree from power.
