The Cook County Forest Preserves cover almost as many square miles as the city of Chicago proper. This accounts for its reputation as the greenest city in the world. The forest preserves around Chicago are largely controlled by the Gangrel clan.

District: Forest Preserve

Description: This is representative of any of the eleven forest preserve divisions, or their special districts. The forest is largely deserted, day or night. There are hikers and joggers daily, and seasonal night campers. Otherwise, the forest preserve is home to no person, save itinerant wildlife and park rangers. The place is dangerous at night, filled with muggers, rapists, and serial killers. Many animal corpses have been discovered, sacrificed in ritualistic fashion, with strange symbols carved into their flesh. One of the forest preserves encloses Argonne National Lab. One contains the haunted Asylum. One has an entrance to the Deep Tunnel Project.

In Play: Rumors of conspiracies and haunted ruins attract teenagers attempting to prove their courage. Cultists use the woods for their bizarre meetings. Deer mutilations are on the rise.

Traits:

Physical: Access -1, Safety -1. There are only two routes into the preserve for motorized vehicles, but a person can easily walk into it from any direction. There are jogging paths and hiking trails, and easily obtained maps for them. Still, the preserve is a long way from the mass of people in the city. Strangers met here are likely to be dangerous, if not violent.

Mental: Information +1, Awareness -1. There is a kiosk at the main entrance, and a self-pay camping station. Trouble is likely to go unnoticed for a day or two.

Social: Prestige -1, Stability -1. Anyone living here is likely an outlaw by kindred standards. The local wildlife will bolt at the least sign of disturbance.

Haven Qualities: Location 0, Security 1, Size up to 5. There isn't much to hunt here, unless you feed from animals, but you can see someone coming a long way off unless you're in the deepest woods, and even then you're likely to hear them coming. There is plenty of room, but lack of feeding limits the population.

Domain: The park has a purchase price of 16 XP as a domain. This includes Location 0, Interactive 1, Reactive 1, Size 3, and Security 0.

Attitude: Dead. Mental -5, Physical +3, Social +3 (hunting pools for animals at +3, otherwise at –5)
