Desdemona Braun

"Half past three and I'm still awake

The room filled with the strangest glow

That's when I saw the glimmer man

Figured I'd get myself a brand new glow"

"Glimmer Man" - the Start

Mortal life was basically wasted on Desdemona Braun. A trust-fund baby and groupie extraordinaire with tastes for big parties, casual sex, and cocaine, she was Embraced in the early 1980s by Armande, a local new wave star of the time. (No one seemed to find it all that unusual that such a brooding, artistic sort would refuse to perform during daylight hours, or be seemingly impossible to catch on film by even the most determined paparazzo.) This didn't put too much of a hitch in her already mostly nocturnal lifestyle... at least, not until all of her former acquaintances grew older and left the scene for more worthy pursuits.

After a while, Desdemona realized that she had been undead for longer than she was alive, and this caused something of a scramble to establish a purpose to her continued existence and a place in Kindred society. She started making jewelry and selling it online a few years back, and fancied herself something of an artist, though her talent was debatable. Drawn to the Circle of the Crone by its belief that "creation is power", she was often seen in the company of fellow Acolytes, especially Kiran Shahthieri (the closest thing to a best friend she has found in the course of her unlife and, possibly, the life before), Alexander Crane, and more recently Maximillion.

She may have appeared oddly idealistic for such a creature of the night, but of course, the reality of Desdemona's actions was far different. Old habits die hard, and a recent feeding from a "flavored" mortal marked her as an addict among certain Kindred, a reputation that may not have been undeserved. She also spent inordinate amounts of time pursuing Angélique and Madison Moore (though the latter case may be as much for his stable of "snacks" as for his body), and the three of them could invariably be found hanging off of each other at some point during the course of any given night.

Following the death of Charles J. Guiteau, Jobe Webster inherited the Ambassador; having little to no interest in dealing with its night-to-night affairs, he delegated the management to Desdemona, not seeming to care that liking to party was her only real qualification. Nevertheless, she apparently did a fair-to-middling job, and a romantic relationship developed between her and Jobe after some time.

Following the "bidness" of Rick Self, Desdemona became Priscus of Clan Daeva against her better judgement, and quickly availed herself of the earliest opportunity to step down, much to the chagrin of some of her fellow Daeva. Desi, however, was slowly coming unhinged following a traumatic... scientific experience and the subsequent murder of the one who subjected her to it; she felt inexplicably responsible for the killing and resented being used as a pawn for higher agendas. In later days, she would show up to Elysia "under the influence" more often than not.

In mid-November of 2006, rumours began to spread of Desdemona's disappearance. She is now widely presumed to have met her Final Death, though a few believe she may have been subjected to further... experiments.
