Chicago Merchantile Exchange

The nation's largest and most active futures exhchange, the Merc is without a doubt the most powerful economic institution in the city. During trading hours the Merc boasts more millionaires per square foot than anywhere else on Earth. Not surprisingly, Kindred have taken notice of the speculative possibilities for over a hundred years and the more forward-looking have been pushing the the limits of technology, moving past floor trading into the aether with computerized trading systems that bulid vast fortunes while requiring little attention.

Fortunately for Kindred, the paranoid nature of many traders (and government regulators) means that the trading floors of the Merc are among the few places where Kindred are assured of no outside listeners so they may talk freely. The night guards are used to strange comings and goings from traders working late or getting a kick from holding trysts on the floor as well as a thousand more eccentric behaviors besides, so the occasional midnight visitors asking for the "private tour" are paid no attention.

When meetings at the Galleria run too tense, the action often unofficially shifts to the Merc where the sterile environment and hum of thousands of tons of air handlers helps to cool tempers. Though he rarely makes an appearance, all Kindred know that Roman Zelenka watches, as silent, yet omnipresent as his mentor Prince Farragut.

Roman Zelenka acts as Master of Elysium for the Merc.

The Chicago Merchantile Exchange is located in he Southern Regency
