Charles J. Guiteau
I have just shot the President. I shot him several times as I wished him to go as easily as possible. His death was a political necessity. I am a lawyer, theologian, and politician.
—A letter written by Charles J. Guiteau, 1882
Guiteau has been a visible figure within Kindred Chicago for virtually a century, in actuality he is difficult to overlook. Starting in the early years of the nineteen hundreds, Charles first started influencing the city from behind the scenes. This was due mostly to Guiteau’s status as a historical villain in a widely publicized crime. Luckily, mortals have small attention spans.
Later, Charles gravitated towards the Lancaea Sanctum. During the nineteen twenties, he was a fully supportive member of his Covenant. He strongly dedicated himself to such ideals as fervently upholding the Masquerade. The Covenant acted as a gateway into city affairs or as much as was likely in the old days. Shortly after World War II Guiteau opened The Ambassador, a nightclub that offered a Kindred friendly environment in which to safely feed or conduct business.
Ventrue Clan by lineage, Charles has a good taste for money. A thirst that has not gone unquenched. Guiteau is known for his focus on business leaving him less than politically motivated in Kindred politics. Long considered a neutral entity in the city with unique resources such as The Ambassador, the Regents selected Charles J. Guiteau Harpy by unanimous vote.
December 2nd, 2005
Charles Guiteau was killed at Carpe Nox, the grand reopening of the Ambassador nightclub. Guiteau had recently denounced his former covenant, the Lancaea Sanctum and was believed to be joining the Invictus; his murder is believed to be retribution for this. Silatious Ciarro was eventually charged with the murder, and many still assert Ursos Arctos and Sven Johansen had some level of invlovement.
