Alexander Crane

"Well, it's about time this city inundated itself with new leaders, as I was having such a hard time of dealing with this dreadful autonomy I've been burdened with for the last several decades. But of course, considering the events of friday, it seems the new fashion to expand the government like fungus on warm bread!

Oh of course, I welcome Axel to tell us exactly *what* his political platform is...that we should eagerly seek his services for whatever it is he thinks a Priscus will do. Shall I finally be able to go on the dole after all these nights?

On a related note- I'm naming myself the city's fire inspector, assistant health inspector, senior comptroller, auditor general, deputy treasurer, secretary of parades and public events, *shadow* cook county coroner, and the new city tree."

-Alex Crane, on Axel's announcement of intent to become the Priscus of the Gangrel

Alex Crane is most widely known as a generally acerbic miscreant, given to trenchant commentary on any issue of the night, whether one is interested in hearing it or not. He frequents the night spots of the city which feature lacrimose, including the Oriental and The Hole in the Wall, as he often enjoys appeasing a certain penchant to become absolutely plastered. Often times he can be seen returning from elsewhere.

While his particular historical connections to the city are not widely known, Crane claims to have been recognized as a citizen of Chicago by Prince Farragut in the 1930's and been a good standing member of Stagger Lee's circle since the late 1950's. While some may take his tendancy to dress in such a disheveled manner as evidence he is or was a yardies, Crane claims he spent no time living amongst the pigs. However, he is well familiar with the tragic incident that prompted the eviction of the yardies from Chicago and still remembers most of the names involved. He also speaks of the 1933 World's Fair with some fondness, if questioned. His interests and influences are also generally unknown...although he has been known to converse and bed with bums regularly. Assumably, as a former Acolyte he knows something of the occult and mythology, but for a kindred who is so vocal when it comes to matters of politics, he seems comparibly silent when it comes to more cosmic discussions.

Tonight, Crane seems to jaw it up regularly with many circles of friends, although it is difficult to tell who actually listens to him. While a Carthian by politcal dedication, Crane is known to be on friendly terms with Stagger Lee and thought to be in the pocket of E.C. Featherby. He was also known to have regular business connections with Jobe Webster and, it would seem recently, support the political moves of Sherman Barnes in reclaiming the Southwest Regency for the Lancea Sanctum. When in a purely social mode, Crane seems partisan towards Short Tom Anderson, Frank Kleidstown, and occasionally Kramp.

Recently, Crane has served as the Priscus for the Gangrel, and has further claimed such a position entitles him to ownership of The Hole in the Wall- a property owned by Axel, who suggested that it was his control of such an open and friendly property that entitled him to the Priscus title almost a year beforehand. With the return of Farragut and the political negotiations there-in during the fall of 2006, Crane was asked to serve as the city's Harpy and also ceeded Streeterville his his land after the dissolution of Jim Milligan's Carthian territory. Crane unceremoniously passed his title of priscus to Jonathan Brinkley, although he has retained control of The Hole in the Wall.

In August of 2006, Crane renounced his connections with the Acolytes and swore loyalty to the Carthian Movement. While a number of threats were whispered about the city regarding Crane's imminent demise at the hands of Stagger Lee or Angelique, no known attempts were made on his life.

Over the past year, it has been commonly observed that Crane's xenophobia has steadily risen...with a primary concern over the action of other neighboring domains and attempts to influence or control Chicago. While his politics have been almost libertarian in most areas (including tendancies to offer open contracts on city matters well outside the rights of his station and a near total disregard for the traditions), it is regularly apparent in his statements as Harpy that he considers the image of the City to outsiders of primary importance.
